The TEU is pleased to be hosting two regional Fono in Christchurch and Auckland during July and August.

The primary audience for the Fono are our TEU Pacific members.  However, we have received expressions of interest from non-union members and members of PSA and TIASA.

We acknowledge that there are many issues that our Pacific colleagues share in common so we wrote to the National Secretaries of the PSA and TIASA to advise that we are happy for their members to attend, with the understanding that the Fono are a TEU initiative and therefore will focus on issues of importance to our Pacific members.

The key purposes for the Fono are to:

  1. discuss our Pacific  members place within the TEU;
  2. develop potential networks and structures;
  3. identify possible links with other Pacific  networks;
  4. consider approaches to recruiting and supporting Pacific  TEU members; and
  5. provide guidance to the TEU on a possible national Fono in 2012.
